There seems to be a lot of confusion on this subj, but my question is simple. What exactly is the OEM part number and wheel size for the spare tire provided with the 2018 Prius Four (w/o tire repair kit). I plan to retrofit the tire repair kit that came with my Prius Four, IAW lohikaarme's "Undeleting the spare tire from a 4" (or something similar to his approach). However, if at all possible, I would prefer to use the OEM spare for the gen 4 Prius and not a substitute. I have spent the last three hours looking for this data but have yet to find it - neither here, nor on Google - and I am sick of wading though promotionals.
Sorry I don't know. BUT - there was also some discussion on the retrofitting of a full-size (15" I think") spare like in the Middle East. Just check that the foam etc is for the size you want. If I remember right, the foam etc for the full-size had to come from overseas though? If you just want a donut spare and foam - can you get it from a wrecked car?
Thanx. Already tried that. None of the local junkyards here have Prius's. The foam and other installation materials can wait, and the rest of the accessories are readily available. Right now, I just need the correct donut. I'm pretty sure the one used with the 2018 Prius Four has a 17" wheel, but I haven't been able to confirm this.
I found it: 125/70D17 98M. Posted on some other thread here, but I cannot find the link anymore. I ordered it on Saturday. Should get hear any day now.
Resurrecting an old thread: ice9: Was your search successful? I'm in the same situation, salvage yard has 16" or 17", and I need the correct one. What did you end up doing with the foam cover? Did you simply carve out the OEM? NEVER MIND: I'm going with the number you provided.
Either can be the "correct" one. The 16" was spec'd on 3rd gen, and 17" on 4th gen. It's a bit of a mystery why they changed, considering the stock tire/wheel is the same, for both gen's. The 16" is very close in outside diameter to stock 195/65R15. The 17" OTOH, is somewhat smaller OD?
Yes. Entirely successful. Actually, I found the tire on ebay. I also ordered the three rear cargo deck foam inserts (foam "boxes") and spare tire retainer from a local dealer to complete the kit - lohikaarme kit Parts list follows: Spare Tire Storage Mod (see photos): Spare Tire Donut; T125/70D17 98M - Installed. Carrier (Spare Tire Retainer) Toyota P/N 51931-47010 - Installed. Box, deck floor LH Toyota P/N 64997-47050 - Installed. Box, deck floor RH Toyota P/N 64995-47040 - Installed. Box, deck floor (Center) Toyota P/N 64993-47090 - Installed. All part numbers are for installing a 17" donut in a gen4 prius. Part numbers shown above are what I ordered through the dealership and are correct. Sorry I didn't post it here. I started a new thread for my Prius camper and reported the spare tire kit there... ...I had forgotten about this thread unit you spoke up. Thanx for reminding me. I was planning to modify the three foam boxs listed above and carve out some additional storage space, but I still haven't decided how to go about it yet (working on other things right now). If you are interested in using a gen 4 Prius as a camper, one added benefit of installing this kit is that the installation eliminates the small step behind the rear seats so that the rear area is now level when the seats are down, and can now be used as a sleeping area. I just tried it this weekend with my cold weather sleeping bag... ...works great!
Great info and something that I need to do but have been putting off. But no more. Can you tell me the wheel size or part number you used for the 17 inch tire? Many offers appearon eBay for the wheel and tire but provided pictures don't seem to include the wheel size. Thanks much for your help on this.
Are you asking regarding the 17" regular wheel/tire size, or the 17" spare? Either way: Coles Notes version: 1. 3rd gen spare (16") will also do just fine, and is actually closer in OD to stock 195/65R15 regular tire 2. Either 3rd or 4th gen spare size is specified in the Owner's Manual, it's no great mystery lol. 3. For the rim, just go to some Toyota parts site (say McGeorge Toyota Parts for example), search for "wheels", and one of the hits will be to a page that shows the part no's for regular 15" and 17" rims, AND the spare rim, plus the lug nuts, wheel covers and center caps.
Sorry. I wasn't clear on my question at all. I'm looking to get a compact spare tire for my 2018 Prius four. I have the tire size (17 inch) but do not know the steel wheel size. Can you help? Thanks much!
Resurrecting again. I have a 2022 Eco. It came with nothing. Whoever owned it first apparently took all the pieces under the floor out for some reason. I’d need a 15” spare. If I order the parts above is that all I’d need to have the underneath stuff sorted out?
I believe Toyota didn't provide a spare with the Eco level. The temp spare would be the same, regardless if the car originally came with 17" or 15" rims. And as mentioned above: either 3rd gen or 4th gen temp spare will work
Right. But there’s no support under the floor. Whoever had it threw a spare underneath it, but there is no plastic or foam or anything.
