So I am planning on buying a 2012 Prius. I know the warranty is 10 yr or 100k miles in ca. Question is more so to prepare if the battery can break at the 10 yr mark? Currently the car has 59k. what do you all think? Thanks in advance. The thing is I see all these high mileage Prius Cars but are they all getting new batteries ?
10/150 battery can break at the 10 year mark, but that is extremely unlikely. 60k is pretty low and may have been slightly detrimental to battery life, they like to be used, you can get a new battery for a couple grande. the good news is that if the car really only has 60k, you can clean the egr circuit and hopefully avoid a blown head gasket. the bad news is the brake actuator, which can cost around $2,500. all the best!
I would verify the mileage is accurate with car fax. Most 2012 are already out of warranty unless it was sold after June 2012
The more I read and realize this should be a good deal becomes a more potential headache. Thank you guys. Gas prices and inflated used car prices are not on a buyers side either. may be better to get a higher mileage car with warranty…
