2008 prius won't move. brand new OEM battery tested good all gears flashing on dashboard

    2008 prius won't move. brand new OEM battery tested good all gears flashing on dashboard.

    Can't Find a single post on the internet about this issue.

    battery is confirmed good by auto center.

    Press POWER on. all accessories come on. very bright dome lights. menu signal check reads 12.1. seems low to me for a OEM genuine battery $222.

    engine never comes on. Press brake pedal and Power on. all the gears P D R N start flashing car engine still not running and can't put into gear?

    Main battery dead? should still run on gas correct???? pulled and checked every fuse in car took about 2 hours.

    don't know how to check relays.

    Usually this is because the Orange Safety plug on the battery pack wasn't pushed all the way down...

    It is. Charge that battery up to full (brand new it should be at 13.0 - 13.2 V) if you care at all about it lasting a good long while.
    Nope. Dead hybrid vehicle (HV) battery, dead car. Check the safety interlock as PriusCamper suggested. Although why you removed that (if you did) is anybody's guess. It is not necessary at all for a 12 V battery change.

    Hello and welcome to PriusChat. Now, what is the history of this car and the problem you're having?
    Is the car a recent purchase? Has it been sitting for awhile? When did it first have this fault or when did it last work correctly?

    Using the center screen (MultiFunction Display) to check voltage is not very accurate. A better way would be to use a decent digital multimeter at the 12V battery itself or at the "jumpstart" point in the underhood fuseblock.

    If my memory serves, flashing PRNDB was pretty much reserved to indicate that the combination meter wasn't communicating with other ECUs like the HV control ECU (which is the one that knows what "gear" you've selected).
