    Hey Prius Fanatics,

an international student here looking for an advice with my 2nd Gen Prius. I am on a tight budget and looking to hunt my own electrical gremlins.

Here's what's happening. In the last month, I started noticing that the clock would reset once in a while. I figured that there would be an issue with electricity. The Prius would go completely dead once I come home. This happened about 8-10 times in the last month. Initially, the electricity would just come back on in about 5 minutes but a few times it just stayed dead for hours. I figured I would check the battery; once I got to it in the trunk and moved things around there, the power would come back. Ever since then, if I lose power I just move the battery a little and it seems to temporarily fix the issue. The battery connections are not loose but it seems to be a connection issue. Any suggestions are welcome!

There is the ground connection from the battery negative terminal to the car body. Make sure that bolt is tight. You should actually check all the connections again, the battery terminals use a 10mm socket wrench

After doing that, (turn on and) watch the cargo area light while gently wiggling every connection for the positive and negative side of the 12V battery. If the light flickers or goes out, then whatever you are wiggling is still causing a problem.
