Hello all. I just aquired a 2007 Prius for free. The previous owner stated the car ran when he parked it. He parked it because the HV battery is dead. I am wondering if I can attempt to bench charge the HV to see if the engine will run. Any help or comments are welcome!!! Thanks in advance.
Welcome to PriusChat!! First you might want to pull the stored OBD2 codes by using a toyota hybrid compatible scanner, many use a mini-vci cable and techstream. Before charging the HV battery as a whole, use a multimeter or voltmeter to check each of the 28 individual modules for state of health. Unless you have a 'grid charger' or a high voltage supply handy, you may find these threads helpful and there could be other threads as well.
