Hi all, It's nice to be here with you finally posting. I've been lurking for a bit after buying a silver 2010 Prius. I had no idea it would suck me into endless exciting mods! lol. Thanks for all the info and troubleshooting you provide/do. So helpful. I was wondering what some of your opinions were with the Valenti light smoke taillights - Anyone ever heard of anyone having trouble with the police saying these aren't letting out enough light? -The back of my prius is tinted 5%, a black top bumper protector is below the license plate. Would the light smoke taillights match enough with the other rear black parts of the silver prius? Thanks everyone for any thoughts on this. Oh I am also in the market for these taillights. If you know anyone interested in selling, please pm me!
Maybe upgrade to much, much brighter LED to mitigate loss of light from tint? If you address that, then it's just a matter of style rather than safety.
Someone just posted selling these but they are already gone. I like the smoked look. You can get your stock ones wrapped as well. Might be cheaper.
If your back is tinted 5% and no ticket yet, chances you won’t get ticketed for tinted taillights. Now if it’s smoked out and about 10% of red is seen at night, have your drivers license and proof of insurance ready at all times.
Have had Light smoke tint on my rear taillights since 2015 and have had no problem. Granted Bulbs have also been upgraded to brighter leds.
To clarify, these are my oem tail lights assembly. I had a tint shop wrap it with film for aesthetics and protection from fading. I also replaced the bulbs with leds that were brighter than stock.
I've done a "light" tint on mine to get rid of the agressive silver/white. Tint film doesn't block light like nightshade/plastidip/whatever people use, so the lights are plenty visible during daytime, even with the stock bulbs.
