LCD Screen turns white with pink and yellow - 2013 Toyota Prius

    My LCD touchscreen turns white pink and yellow randomly and eventually goes back to normal black color with blue. It’s a 2013 but just started in Winter 2019. Toyota dealer said it would be $800 to replace and they’d have to send it out somewhere to do it. Just fixing the screen was not an option. Please see the pics I uploaded. Everything works on it so I am not sure why they can’t just order a new LCD. Anyone else have this happen? What did you do? Costs?

    Something like that usually means a bad solder connection. My radio looses it's light sometimes.
    Tapping it will bring it back. And it's just randum. I may get brave one day and take it apart and touch
    all the solder connections with my iron and hope that fixed it. :)
    You can do an internet search for places that repair radios. I saw a few last year when I was looking.
    I don't remember where they were or how much.

    The two is the lower end Prius. They are often upgraded by owners. So, used ones are extremely cheap on eBay and other used parts sites. That's one advantage of owning a base model.

    Interesting. Thanks for your response. If you do ever open it up and do that - please take pics and post them and/or record the steps so others could see how to do it!

    Thanks Georgina. That's true. It is the base model even though it is called Two. There is no One. I actually did think about upgrading back in the day. I'm over that now but I will definitely look on eBay. I really hope it is not the whole unit though and my inner frugalness tells me there is a cheaper and quicker fix than a new unit. Buying on eBay scares me too.

    If anyone is local to Chicagoland/Milwaukee area and knows a good radio repair place please let me know. I'm buy the southern Wisconsin border.

    I have a 2013 Prius 3 that I bought used last fall in which the screen whites out for the first few minutes on the first trip of the day. Mine is still under warranty and the dealer says it has been replaced once already with a "reconditioned" unit. I'm holding off getting it replaced as I might go with a Sony replacement like I did in my Camry.

    You get it replaced under warranty, then replace it with the one you want, and sell it to Lake County. :love::rolleyes:

    Just starting happening to mine on start up. 2013 V 5. If i turn it on and turn it off it fixes it. Might just get a take out unit on ebay, they seem cheap enough. Anyone else ever find a solution?
