Thought this would be informative to show a before and after a rebuilt engine going from 2010 to 2015 updated piston/rings and what the exhaust manifold looked and looks like now a year later. First one is the exhaust manifold once HybridPit got the engine out. Looks like a lot of oil from bad 2010 pistons/rings and coolant from the bad head gasket. The second one is a year later on 9/13/22 when I got my new MagnaFlow cat installed by a local shop. Looks nice and dry thanks to those 2015 pistons/rings HybridPit installed.
Do you recall your miles and oil-loss rate, prior to Hybrid Pit? Toyota really screwed their customers with those rings, chasing trivial mpg brownie points I’d wager.
Yes I imagine this is how that would go exactly I just didn't want to open an open deck and do the work to the 2010 engine. Why not just buy a 2015 short block or engine but what have you. I'm glad it's worked out well. But if I was going to do that I'd have to have machine work done and all the other stuff and then that makes it quite expensive and not really viable when JDM low mileage engines are so plentiful I could put two engines in for the money I'm rebuilding the one practically probably literally.
Try ask Amayama. I've messaged them about part numbers etc and gotten answers pretty quick from a real person.
