Hey all, had a strange thing happen yesterday on my 2010, 110k. I started the car and the engine turned on but right when the gas engine shut off (warmed up) it started up again immediately, stayed on for about 4 seconds then turned off and once again started up immediately. Did this about 5 times before I turned the car off. Hasn't happened before, any reason why this could have happened? No codes were thrown, drove well after restart.
If you monitor the coolant temp (with a third-party app/device) you'll see it's not fully warmed (say 190~195F) when the car first shuts off. That behavior is a little weird, but maybe it was just dancing around the threshold for shut down. Did you have the heat/vent system on, asking for heat? Might be a factor.
I was gna clean the egr ports on IM but when I removed it they were very clean, no build up. I haven't removed the cooler or valve but my airflow is good around 18.5 kpa on average I thought the same. Heat and ac were off.
I've never encountered that strange behavior, but have had a simpler version, possibly related. That occurred when the engine was partially cooled after being shut down for maybe 30 minutes in mildly cool weather. When I pressed the start button, the engine started, but stopped after running only roughly one second.
