My first time on here. I have a Prius Prime Plug in 2018. The strangest thing is happening to me. I park my car in my garage, and it starts beeping about every minute or two. I go shopping and park my car and it's not beeping. I go home and park in my garage and it starts beeping again. I took it to Toyota, for them to check on it. While waiting for some help my car was just sitting there and not beeping, so I took it home again. I'm completely frustrated.
By the way, the beeping sound comes from the outside of the car. I can barley hear it inside of the car.
I'm just spit-ball here; because there isn't enough information to make a diagnosis. Is the car plugged-in when this happens or unplugged? Is that car new to you or did you buy it new? Previous accidents; history of the car. I'm just guessing the previous owner/dealer installed some sort of anti-thief or tracking device that's malfunctioning. Hope this helps.
I bought the car new. It doesn't matter if it is plugged in or not, it will still beep. It will only beep in my garage or my driveway. I was wondering if there could be anything near my car that would make it beep. The beeping is not a fast beeping it's slow like every 1-2 minutes. No accidents.
Another dumb question; are you sure the beep is coming from your car - not something buried in your garage somewhere? I have a jump-pack that beeps about every minute; when the battery is low. The first time this happened; I must've looped through the house, garage, side and back yards about a half dozen times - searching for the beep. I finally noticed a very weak red led flash on my automotive shelf and put two and two together. Hope this helps.
Biomed01, Thank you so very much. I never thought of that. My car is parked right under the garage door opener motor. The beeping definitely came from it. ;-)
