Recently picked up a used 2013 Prius V with 143k miles. I'm in the process of replacing the PCV valve and cleaning out the EGR system, and discovered evidence of burning oil in the engine chamber (pics below). Should I try to clean any of the residue out before replacing the manifold?
Yes. I wouldn't spray anything directly in there, say brake cleaner, too easy to wash it down further, to the valves. Spray onto a cloth/brush, clean with those. Watch the @NutzAboutBolts video on intake manifold cleaning; think it's linked in first link in my signature. Direct link to that video:
Wow, those intake runners are very oily. Our 2011 at 12X, 000 miles wasn't nearly as oily. I hope your catalytic converter isn't toast from all the oil going through it. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
