Ended up with a P0A93 code and no movement in the reservoir and the pump did not feel like it was running. I bought an OEM pump as I do drive a bit into the wilderness at night so I wanted one that was dependable. My question is the metal bracket on the original part is under another bracket with a stud and bolt holding them. The other bracket which is on top of inverter pump bracket goes somewhere into the engine compartment, and I have no clue where it is bolted. Has anyone bent the top bracket up over the stud and pulled the original base off or should I just unbolt the new pump from the metal base that came with it and mount it on the OEM bracket?
I changed the pump and bracket, seemed easier. I strongly suggest watching a few utube videos before picking up a wrench. Also pull the bumper cover off and spray all bolts with PB blaster or equivalent the night before.
Unless your bracket is rusted out or something, just remove the new pump from the new bracket by removing the three mounting bolts. All the rubber vibration mounts stay with the pump body. Then remove the old pump from its bracket the same way, leaving the old bracket on the car. Then install new pump on old bracket. Easy squeezy.
No rust, it's a CA car. Ok I will remove the pump from the new bracket and mount it on the old. Seems odd they would put a bracket that goes to somewhere unknown over the top of a removable part that could fail. Thanks
One bolt goes on the side of the frame rail, and the other is a stud and nut that also holds the fuse block (goes straight down). No rust? Leave the bracket, swap just the pump. No reason to change it. Rust? Leave the bracket because the stud/nut "always" seizes and snaps. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Did exactly that, lost a very tiny amount of fluid. Did top off ICE coolant and oil while I was at it. Cleared the code and all is good. Thanks everone!!!
