2005 Toyota Prius Code is U0111 with no sub code. Where is the Hybrid Control ECU located and are all 2nd gen HV Control ECU’s compatible? The ECU’s forsale online all say for 06-09. Since mine is 05 I just want to make sure it’s going to work if I put an 08 ECU in it as I have a parts car. Haven’t rulled out the Battery ECU just yet but want to be able to fix the issue once I start working on the car.
Welcome to PriusChat!! For the sub codes (INFs) you will need to scan with a hybrid compatible OBD2 device, or a mini-vci cable with techstream ($20 or less). Here is the workup for the following DTC/INFs : U0100/212, U0100/530 U0111/208, U0111/531, U0129/220, U0129/222, U0129/528, U0128/529, U0131/433, U0131/434, U0146/435 : https://share.qclt.com/%E4%B8%B0%E7%94%B0%E6%99%AE%E7%91%9E%E6%96%AF%E5%8E%9F%E5%8E%82%E8%8B%B1%E6%96%87%E6%89%8B%E5%86%8Cpdf%E6%A0%BC%E5%BC%8F/Prius%20Service%20Manuals%202004/%E4%BF%AE%E7%90%86%E6%89%8B%E5%86%8C/04pruisr/05/21bpm/0100211.pdf Here is an image that might help you locate the ECU in question :
I know this is an old post but I had the same question as Scott. The answers is sort of. If you replace the Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU the donor unit will have a VIN. For this you will need Techstream or Autel or some other tool. Updating the VIN with these tools can be done offline. Once the VIN is transferred, do a "handshake" process and you should be good to go.
