I have a 2009 prius. The check engine light has been on for months but It has been running fine. Today after car sitting in the Tucson sun for several hours we came out and started it and put the AC on. The red triangle came on with some other warning lights. This also happened last year around this time when the outside temperature got hot. Any ideas?
My idea is to get the codes read from Autozone or similar auto parts retailer. That'll point you to the right direction of this failure. Best case scenario...well there isn't one.
I'm up here in Maricopa Arizona I would check your cooling fan on the battery. Also one how is your inverter pump I've replaced mine several times.
As you have warning lights on the dash, which means there are trouble codes telling you what the car has detected to be off, I will also cast my vote for posting what those trouble codes are.
