2008 smart key not working properly

    Smart key is acting odd.

    When I approach the car it unlocks the doors.
    But when I push to start the yellow key icon flashes and red car.

    Whats going on?\

    1) maybe the key fob battery is weak

    2)maybe there's a fault that prevents the car from "reading" the fob correctly when it's inside. You would need a capable scantool to check the smartkey ecu for codes.

    (I had problems when my cellphone was in the same pocket as my keys)
