10 days ago I had a remanufactured hybrid battery installed on 2010. The night it was installled I ran the Dr. Prius LE test and results were 87% capacity remaining. I've been noticing the MPG dropping daily so I tried to run the Dr. Prius LE test again. To my surprise, I can't get past step one of the test. I had my foot flooring the gas and the break for about 4-5 minutes and the app never moved on to the next step in the process. The highest state of charge I saw was 57% and the charging score never went above about 36%. What gives? Does this mean this battery is so weak it can't even get through the Dr. prius LE test? Car is driving fine and no lights on the dash since the installation of the remanufactured hybrid.

No lights on the dash so on and so forth but the gas mileage is going down and must be going down fairly decently for it to be mentioned and talked about generally speaking. This is what happens with rebuilt battery packs It just takes one module what have you and then your whole thing is kind of not so good and gets pretty tricky like I say when I've known people in prison that talk about putting batteries in the refrigerator and crap like that but are nonsense but people will try anything anything to not have to pay $1,500 for something.

(Batteries in fridge does lengthen storage life... but be sure to let them warm to room temp before use ;) )

    As for MPG and testing...
    1) Have you ruled out other possibilities? Example: we're going through a season change where I live. Turning on heat or A/C makes a visible difference.
    2) Ignore the LE test for a moment. What is the voltage consistency across your pack? How about temperature?
    3) If you suspect a problem, run Hybrid Assistant battery monitor mode (I just posted on this elsewhere), stress test the battery a bit, and look at the reports/graphs. Do you have one or more blocks (module pairs) out of whack? If so, there's your culprit.

Is an OEM battery available now for $1500? If so, where?

To clarify, MPG has gone from 46 to 38. I think. It’s only been a week so maybe things are just settling. 36-38 MPG is what I got before I changed to the remanufactured battery.

regarding prices to replace the hybrid battery, approx $1500 IS the price for a remanufactured battery parts and labor. And that’s on the cheap side. A new OEM battery replacement would be about $3500 parts and labor.

The true heart of my question is, why am I not able to run the life expectancy test? What does that information in itself mean? I tried to run it again since I originally posted this and this time it didn’t make it to step three, but then the app just closed in the middle of step three of the desk without ever giving results.

@travelinsmart if the app is closing, in general that's a bug in the app. Sadly, phone OS (Android and iOS) have bugs, and also have frequent changes to the "APIs" (interface used by software developers.)

    I would contact the author.
