Hey Guys, I have a 2009 Prius with a freshly rebuilt battery from Electron Automotive. I bought the rebuild kit and did it myself. The car sat for quite some time before the new hybrid battery but once the gas engine figured itself out again the car seemed to run and drive just fine up and down the street. After about 10 minutes I once again got the red triangle of death, and well as the VSC and (!) light. The car still drives around fine however when the lights go on I can hear the hybrid battery fan ramp up and is running pretty hard. The battery is not hot to the touch. I unhooked the 12V (brand new) and reinstalled. No lights on dash for another 10-15 minutes of driving around. Then all the lights came back as well as the battery fan. Parked because i don’t want to damage new battery. Last year I replaced the inverter coolant pump so I don’t think that’s the issue. I Can feel it pumping through the hose. Electron recommended I pull the battery out and re-torque the buss bar, which I will do when I get a proper torque wrench. Went to O’rileys and didn’t show any codes for some reason. Going to buy one of my own and try again this week. Any knowledge or expertise is appreciated. Would love to not take the battery back out but would hate to miss something and damage it. Thanks!
I know the catalytic converter is going bad as well. Last year before the hybrid battery died we pulled codes and the cat was one. I imagine it’s still and issue and I think the O’rileys reader is off because it didn’t even pull that.
Many scantools are not capable of communicating with the 14-16 systems on a Gen2 Prius. Here's a thread that reviews several scantool apps and devices, some are capable. The Autel AP200 is a good choice for general diagnostics. Dr Prius (plus a "generic" OBD device) is handy for monitoring HV battery block voltages. The 2 apps use different OBD devices, but many people get both. As far as your battery, there could be a problem with busbar connections being too loose (48 INCH - pounds), too tight (damaged battery studs), or corroded (did they give you new busbars or did you clean yours?). Maybe there's corrosion damage to the battery voltage sense harness or the orange connector at the battery ecu. Or, maybe there's a bad module in the "rebuilt" pack. Those are used modules, who knows how much was done to "refurbish" them - or not. First thing is to read what codes are present in the system. https://priuschat.com/index.php?posts/3290690 Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks! I have a torque wrench on the way so I'm going to pull they battery out and torque all the busbar nuts. I used all new hardware that was provided. I will look into getting a scan tool as well!

Update: I ordered the Autel AP200. After scanning the codes I pulled the following: - P3011: Battery block 1 becomes weak - P3000: Battery Control System I had other error codes but they were likely caused by my previously dead 12V battery (low voltage codes) I reached out to Electron and said it's likely the busbar bolts being under torqued. Will rebuild battery and update after
