Could use a little help please. I had one cell fail on my 07 Prius so I replaced it with a used oem (7.8v) cell. Cleaned everything and put back together. Re-installed the orange safety plug. Vehicle will power up but now every light in on the dash and engine will not start up. Is there a reset I need to preform or? Any help would be very appreciated.
Hello and welcome to PriusChat! When you reinstalled the safety plug, did you slide the handle down until it clicked? It's 3 steps - push the plug in, swing the handle in, slide it down. If you have done that correctly but still have problems, you will need to scan the car for fault codes. Many scantools are not capable of communicating to all 14-16 systems on a Gen2 Prius. Here's a thread that reviews several scantool apps and devices, some of which can support all systems. While it occasionally works, most attempts to "just replace a module" in the HV battery fail because the "new" module doesn't have the same state of charge or effective capacity as all the others. There are MANY threads about DIY battery module replacement, balancing, grid chargers vs RC hobby chargers. Use the forum's search function. Good luck. https://priuschat.com/index.php?posts/3290690 Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
No it will not That's a full Christmas tree there pretty much You need to have a capable scanner so you can scan the car and see what actually you got You replaced one module one block one something another this is an '07 car with an original battery and I didn't even look at the mileage but that's kind of irrelevant now your battery's like how many years old 17 20 . whatever. Usually by 10 to 15 years the ladder is really stretching it the battery is pretty much buried itself and now we've yanked it out and replaced a module or what have you that would give me the a big buzzer on America's got talent I think just saying. Me thanks now You stop and you scan the car and move forward I'm assuming somewhere in that battery possibly when you get everything rescanned and what have you there may be other problems The battery leaking to the frame possibly something so when you replace this one module or block or what have you everything was real clean nothing was dripping on the tray the modules that you took out the little screws on the bottom of the battery tray those need to be torque You can't just wump them in there. Those are known leak spots The battery electrolyte or whatever you want to call it a little bolt bus through the plastic that you can't see the electrolyte touches that bolt and runs the DC power to the frame of your car which is the grounding point for your 12 volt system blah blah blah not good not saying that's what's happened yet but that's something you need to check out take your time don't get in a hurry don't panic because you'll make a lot of mistakes and waste a lot of money if you do.
Definitely verify Post 2 was done correctly. Did you disconnect the 12v battery? Your photo looks an awful lot like what happens the first time you press the power button after reconnecting the 12v. It seems like every single warning light illuminates, but then press it one more time (also with foot on brake) and all the lights clear and the car will do it's normal thing and go to READY. You are showing: BRAKE Master Warning Traction Control Warning Brake Warning ABS VSC Check Engine Maintenance Warning Are any of these on due to a good reason? Like BRAKE is on due to parking brake engaged) Were any of these on prior to the work you performed? (like maintenance warning, etc)
