Hi all, to make a long story short, i replaced the previous battery with a yellow top purcaifrom amazon that said it was a fit for my 2011 prius; i followed the way other people replaced theirs on youtube and was hoping this would solve my start issue woes. When i “flicked on” the on switch everything came up on dash except the “ready”; i immediately turned it off and this time pushed and held the start button for several seconds. it worked as this seem to work when i had the old battery. i decided to test drive the car with the dr prius app and i noticed several disturbing things. The “pack voltage” was more than often turning red especially when i accelerated, then i started seeing the hv batteries starting alternating ftom green to yellow to red and it seems red seems to come up more often when i accelerated. The “12v” was showing 13.4v instead of the expected 14.5 while driving due to charging and i just noticed the battery temps on my hv are showing in the 60’s!!! Never seen this while i was running with the older batteries. Also, i noticed a very faint high pitch squealing sound from car. Does my prius need to be reset somehow for having replaced my auxiliary battery? Never had these issues prior to replacing and my hv batteries seemed ok prior to this. Am i damaging my hv batteries while driving while showing red on the dr prius app? can’t imagine it’s ok. what goes the red indicate? any dr prius users out there? otherwise, car seems to work ok.
let me understand please. you replaced your 12 volt and the car starts and runs fine? you are concerned with the dr. prius report on your hybrid battery which is original? the charging rate of the 12 volt is based on the amount of charge in the battery, so it sounds fine.
With a "good" 12V battery installed, your Prius will eventually drop the "float voltage" to ~13.4V. It will fully charge the 12V battery each time it is discharged by taking the voltage to ~14.4V. Once it is fully charged it does no good to hold the battery at 14.4V (actually damages the battery) so it drops the "float voltage" back to a more respectable ~13.4V. Your Prius takes very good care of it's 12V battery! When your old failing 12V battery was still in the vehicle, the Prius was doing its best to keep the battery fully charged by (probably) holding the float voltage at 14.4V most/all of the time.
