first of all my english sucks and sorry for inconvenience. I will try to describe what happened in detail. just opened radiator and let old water to spill and filled back with water. nothing else. and that was the sound which I got after that. also Prius startup noisehad way lower sound and lasted way longer now it lasts only 4 seconds maybe. place which I recorded is behind left headlight (drivers side). that part has vibration and when i touch it noise changes/dumpens. all I did wrong was I forgot to put electricity cabel back on right side at bottom side of radiator (passengers side). and it got wet, I tried to start engine and when i heard increased noise i instantly turned off car. tried to dry cable as much as possible and before connecting and started again. noise remained same. idk if thats related to problem at all. now going to wait till enxt day to try to start car again to let that cable to be dry completely. p.s. whats that sound at all? some tell me its ABS BLOCK, some guy who checked car told me "abs block" is working fine and its something else. also I am translating abs block from native and is it same as brake pump starter? whats the part which is shown to video and what it is to connected at all?
It sounds to me like an electric water pump spinning with just air, no fluid, in it. Don't do that, they burn out very quickly that way. There is a procedure for bleeding all the air out of the engine cooling system on this car, it is complicated because depending on the position of the three way valve it either goes to the thermos or around towards the heater core. Is it really water? It should be coolant. If it must be water (temporarily!) at least use distilled or deionized water or it will crud up the whole system with mineral deposits. Did you touch anything in the inverter cooling loop? They are separate. The fellow who made the linked video also has one on bleeding the inverter loop.
previous o can u tell me what is the purpose of part which is located on left side behind headlight? I mean some kind of tank. tubes connected to it have vibration. also which part makes sound when u start up prius before gasoline engine starts working? I mean whirling noise. thats the noise which has increased sound and time is cut to 3 seconds instead of maybe 6-7 seconds which it usually has. its Sunday and I have hard time finding people who work on prius and everyone who is not close by refuse to answer on phone since they wont make money if they fix problem with phone calls.
The thing which looks like a little beer keg behind the driver's side headlight is the thermos. It holds hot coolant when the car is off, and pushes it back into the car when it starts up. Supposedly this helped the car come up to operating temperature quicker. (They got rid of it in the next generation, apparently it wasn't worth the effort.) The 3 way valve controls when the coolant goes into that tank and when it goes around it.
In a Gen 2, there is another sound ahead of starting the engine, which is the pump that preheats the engine using hot coolant stored in the thermos. There's enough context in this thread (and also the attached video) to make clear that's what the thread is about.
