DTC P0010 "Camshaft Position 'A' Actuator Circuit (Bank 1)" As you probably know, Prius has variable intake valve timing. The presence of this DTC means that either the oil control valve circuit has a problem, or the valve itself is bad, or the engine ECU is bad.
the car ran and drove, it came back to the garage and sat a little and won't start, what do know of the oil control valve, any easy circuit or parts to replace to eliminate to solve the problem. i replaced the camshafte sensor too.
xviperscom, It sounds to me like you're spend'g a lot of money replacing parts that may not even have needed replacing (weren't bad in the 1st place). I know many people have dealers that seemingly have no technical expertise in regards to the Prius & just seem to do the exact same thing, but I probably would have started at the dealer & let him pull the codes/run the diagnostics & look up what the potential causes & the recommended solutions would be. Going that route in the beginning might have actually saved you some money in your case. You probably can't return for a refund any of the parts you bought un-necessarily, but I hope you kept the old ones you removed because they are probably good still & may come in handy some day in the future. It sounds like you don't have access to the Toyota repair manual. I suggest you subscribe to techinfo.toyota.com so that you can download the relevant repair manual pages that explain how to troubleshoot the oil control valve. Looks like a fairly simple process. Good luck.
Hi Ken, It appears that xviper has a business selling used Prius parts, so the major investment here seems to be of his time.
correct, i have a about 80 parts prius's here, so i have not spent a dollar on parts, not to mention car was high mileage and i don't regret replacing worn or damaged parts. mastertech, snap on and tech manual are leading me no where and was just seeing if anybody has any useful info, thanks.
any update? I have that code and it also threw HVAC codes for the battery. https://priuschat.com/threads/red-triangle-vsc-etc-engine-codes-p0010-powertrain-p1121-powertrain-p0a80-powertrain.244313/page-2#post-3409056
