I recently swapped the Gen 3 engine on my 2010 with a Gen 4 engine due to burning lots of oil. Is there a way to find out what year the Gen4 engine is and is there anything vital I should be aware of when servicing the newer engine? (Oil changes, Other engine parts) I’m asking so when I need to take it in for repairs, to let the mechanic know its a newer engine.. Thanks.
So in the Gen 4 swap do you get the spin on filter instead of the little plastic bucket and cartridge? I have the spin on adapter here I just have it installed it. And I thought the Gen 4 is all had that so if the guy goes to change the oil he'll be surprised or he won't be
I don’t know if the EGR was a Gen 3 and haven’t changed the oil yet since I did the swap. I need to call the place that performed the swap and ask them. Thanks for the info.
I'm confused. In your initial post you said that you did the swap but later you alluded to paying a shop to having done the swap. It's really important to know if they reused any of the Gen 3 components. Did you get answers from the shop? Who did the swap? Did they do any custom tuning post install?
