I was sitting in a park listenin to the radio and wanted to check my 12V level. I pushed some buttons on the MFS and it showed codes. How do these differ from what you would get with a scanner? Thank you, ebm
A scan tool shows you codes about the car (the powertrain, chassis components like brakes and steering, and body components). The codes you're seeing on your infotainment screen are only about the infotainment system, nothing about the rest of the car. I don't have any of them memorized. EMV codes are about the display unit itself, and DSP-AMP codes are about the (audio) digital signal processor and amplifier under the seat. You can read about them in the repair manual: Toyota Service Information and Where To Find It | PriusChat
The infotainment system was not designed to communicate with a scantool. There is limited diagnostics through the MFD for that system, but that's all it can do. Diagnostics for all the other systems on the car is through the OBD port with a scantool (or getting flash codes for some systems). Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
