I read or heard that when you do your scheduled 5K maintenance that the body bolts should be tightened is this true? To me the two Toyota dealerships that I do my maintenance really do not know this car at all. I have to constantly remind them of the tire pressure and not to over fill when replacing the oil. Wonder if the techs ever get to read the work order. FishHawk
Interesting. Where do you take it? I go next month for my first oil change and I kinda hoped the dealers around here were more knowledgeable.
If you are driving on dusty or rough roads (i.e. severe service) they recommend checking the body bolts every 5k. I don't know if I would trust that the tech is actually doing this, but its probably unlikely to be a problem unless you commonly drive on gravel or dirt or hit potholes constantly. Here is what the Maintenance Schedule says: [attachmentid=10078] and here is what you are supposed to check: [attachmentid=10079]
Here's the official torque spec database for 2001-2012. TOYOTA PRIUS (2001-2012) – TorqueSpec Database
Not sure what "official" means there—I don't see any connection between that site and Toyota. We can, of course, hope it isn't wrong much. For the official torque specs, we do already know where to look: Toyota Service Information and Where To Find It | PriusChat
Good luck though, finding a concise list of what’s to be checked, and a summary of torque specs or whatever.
