I ran out of gas for my lawn mower and had to make a gas run just for it! Normally I'd wait until almost on fumes for the mower gas can then just take it with me on my next fuel run for my car. That doesn't work when you can go months without needing fuel for the Prime! I'm going to have to start planning ahead more.

Yea, I should just get an electric mower, but the one I have now thinks it's a Toyota and just refuses to die. It is even older than my Gen1 Prius I gave away to get the Prime.

I hope and pray that Toyota hasn't forsaken their top reputation for reliability.

Unlike you I first bought a battery operated lawn mower (EGO) 56V. One year later I bought a Gen4 Prime and now I have a Gen 5. No need to buy gas, unless I'm on a road.

When it comes to personal health, you're exposing yourself to a massive amount of air pollution every time you mow your lawn... And what's even better than having fresh air to breathe while mowing, is how much better the music sounds on the headphones when there's no gas engine ruining the sound quality.

    How do you define, "massive?"

@PriusCamper: :) yea, it's coming. Just too cheap to toss a working mower just yet. Noise cancelling headphones were a game changer for both mowing and vacuuming.

@Eddie F: sounds like we're perfect targets for the Prime, electricity for the city, but still very practical for road trips. The parameter I noted was charge rate in miles per hour, a combination of charge in watts/hr divided by efficiency in miles/watthr. For electric our cars are a measly 4MPH (40 miles for 10 hours of charging at 110V), but at home that is fine. For trips, good EVs may get a couple hundred MPH at a fast charger, but we get about 9,000 at a gas station! (3 mins for 400+ miles)

I like my cars having more stamina than I do on road trips.

Yes, I learned that the cheap, Harbor Freight type noise-canceling headphones are not worth the money.

I love my Ryobi 20" electric mower that's been de-badged and given a custom paint job... But the $19 mower blades wear out real fast and seems Home Depot decided to cash in on their monopoly selling Ryobi mower blades and just jacked up the price to $29, which is so offensive I'd rather find another blade that will work in its place.

Corded-electric Craftsman mower here, bought in a previous century IIRC. The deck is all steel. Our “lawn” is more and more moss, native ground cover and tree roots now, slowly devolving. All around us neighbours keep “maintaining” like crazy.

Not a surprise you threw at ton of money into the waste bin buying a brand new car with a huge depreciation after the first couple years, Lol... I'd rather be a pleb than a money wasting elitist who's pretending to be rich even though they really are not.

Perhaps you might do yourself a favor and leave this money wasting elitist forum once and for all.

Can't take a joke huh? Maybe stay in your lane and not come to the Gen5 board since you don't own one.

Making a joke of poor people who have a passion for all aspects of gardening every day going into my fourth century of a career as a master gardener ain't gonna end well if you're dumping as much money on a Gen5 joke of a Prius when you could of spent less on a two year old Model 3 Tesla.

As for staying in your lane, I've been on here most every day for a decade helping people who usually can't afford over-priced car repairs, or as you call them plebs.

Thanks for your input... I'm staying because I'm interested in learning as much as I can for poor people who will one day end up owning junk broke down Gen5 Prius that didn't last as long as all the previous iterations.

Based on the comments in this Gen5 forum this newest iteration of Prius is concerning...

Toyota wants to be as successful as Boeing at cutting corners like they do though.

Ha ha, actually the Prius Prime is better for getting gasoline for the lawnmower because short trips are bad for the ICE. You drive to the gas station in the BEV mode, and you eliminate problems caused in the ICE by short trips. I never use the HEV mode for short trips.
