Did you check the pcv line? It’s hard to get to once everything is installed.

Missing a gasket on the egr pipe at the manifold or at egr valve? Are these connections tight and no gaps?

Did you try to disconnect the maf and run in default parameters?

I have not tried disconnecting the MAF and running it.

All the gaskets are in place and tightened pretty well with gaps.

Can I use a fog machine with mineral oil to test out leaks?

I just took off the intake manifold enough to reach the pcv and I saw the hose was connected properly but the pin was off the hose so I put the pin in place and put the manifold back. I’m looking to do vacuum leak test before I start the engine.

What location would I connect the smoke machine to do a vacuum test? I will definitely put a cover intake pipe so that smoke doesn’t escape out the air filter box

Pin? Do you mean the tension clip?

    SM-G781V ?

Can any one please share Prius’s vacuum lines diagram?

can I use a fog machine with mineral oil to do leak test?

    I’m planning to this next.
Thank you all for sharing knowledge!

Do you mean you also worked on the throttle body (cleaned)? If so, did you use brake cleaner on it?

I had WD40 only so I used it.

    Update:

I tested vacuum leak test using a Gumout carb cleaner spray and I felt the intake manifold gasket isn’t good and also the egr pipe to intake manifold gasket.

    - So I swapped out those two gaskets and TB gasket as well.

    - Car used to rev high and used to up and down rpm at high rpm.

    - A good sign is it’s not revving high now but it’s
Continuing to up and down the rpm and stalling the engine eventually.

    - If I press and hold the gas pedal slightly, it’ll
Continue to stay on and feels normal and doesn’t present any misfires.

    - I’m attaching few pictures of a suspicious spot on intake manifold I feel, can you please review it and tell me if it is normal and is how it’s supposed to be? This spot is below where throttle body sits. Zoom in for more clarity.

Newly acquired? Carb Cleaner (aka Carburetor Cleaner) is what you want to use for cleaning the throttle body. FWIW, WD40 isn't too bad, is a combo lube/solvent, mostly solvent.

That's why I asked - his first post mentioned using brake cleaner, then later mentions cleaning the throttle body, so it wasn't clear. Brake cleaner can easily damage the built in TPS sensor in throttle bodies.

I PERSONALLY use MAF cleaner on the TB because unless it's really gunked up, it works just as well, and won't damage the TPS if there's anything sensitive. I borked the TB on my wife's SAAB because carb cleaner was able to seep into the TPS and damage the trace.

I have since never tried "Throttle Body Cleaner," and have never looked into the formulation compared to carb cleaner since I'm happy with the performance of MAF cleaner (plus that way I'm not buying multiple cans of stuff). I assume it's similar if not exactly the same as carb cleaner.

    Hey guys,
Idling issue is continuing to happen. I drove the and it drives well. Good engine power and all no misfires while driving and engine is on. Only idling seems to be the issue. Car just idle while in the neutral/park mode. It’s shaky, noisy and dies.

when in the idle, I see that TPS reads 1.4% and if I turn on the AC it climbs upto 2.4%

    maintenance mode TPS reads 0%

I tried removing the negative terminal on the 12v battery for 10min for the relearn process to kick in but it did no good.

I checked with multimeter and I’m receiving consistent 5v on the harness.

do you think the TB is bad?

Dies? The system has to be restarted? No codes? No P0401 or P0403?

Maybe the throttle Position Sensor is making the system run but it should not die. It could be a leaking egr valve. It should be closed at idle and low rpm’s. Have you tried blocking it off?

Car care Nut Egr video with block tube test

Dealers and most pro shops would run an egr step test on the egr while monitoring the map pressure in maintenance mode.

I was able to do this test yesterday.

the issue still persists but teeee ti ti ti I hear I’m trying to rev it more. With the EGR blocked the throttle opened up a little more instead of 2% it open a little over 4%.
