Technician had to break oil filter cap then charged me for a new one

    Mine just broke, so reading old threads to understand cause, oem vs metal, etc. Shop offered to pay, I peaked the screen and looks like aftermarket cost to them is $80 or so for a metal one. I might actually offer to pay anyway or split it with them - having a good relationship with a good shop is worth far more than $60 imho

    Consider conversion to spin-on style oil filter? My total outlay for that was $72.53 USD (shipping included, no extra taxes or whatever), through Amayama. It was much cheaper than the prices I've seen in the States, through Hybrid Pit Stop for example, who sells a "kit".
