    Hey guys

I recently had my brake booster replaced due to the abs, brake lights, beeping, and pedal locking up. The accumulator was pumping ever few seconds as well. When they replaced the brake booster the accumulator started pumping up and holding again. The issue I have now is that when im in stop and go traffic or sitting with my foot on the brake for a while all the lights and beeping come back and the pedal locks up where you cant push it down at all even with all my body weight. I have to pull over and put he car in park for about 5 minutes then all the lights go off and it works like normal. Im driving a borrowed car until i get this figured out.

My question is could this be the brake accumulator that's failing or did they install a bad brake booster? I know its recommended that both get replaced but the accumulator was on back order and the brake booster seemed to fix the issue and clear out the codes for a while. What codes should i look for if its actually the actuator that's bad?

    who replaced the booster?

you don't need to look for a specific code. get it read with tech stream and report them here.

shouldn't you talk to the people who did the work?

Was it a used part, or new? Whoever replaced it, were they a hybrid shop?
Perhaps they didn't bleed it correctly because they didn't have the correct equipment to do
    the job correctly.
And as bisco said, you should take it beck to whoever did the job and tell them to fix it correctly.
Or get a refund and take it to a place that knows how to do the job correclty....

It was a new booster and it was a larger mechanic shop that works on everything. I took it back and they read the codes but i don't remember what they were. They told me that they would need to replace the accumulator since the booster was new. The car has over 200k on it. Does this sound like more of a booster problem or like it wasnt bled correctly. Ill run up to Oreilles and have them read the codes and ill post them here.

Was it just one brake component that was changed? There are a couple mounted on the engine bay firewall. If just one, do you know which:

It was the top picture which is the brake booster assembly. When they replaced it the accumulator started cycling like it should.

If there are lights and beeping then there are codes. O'Reilly's just doesn't have a capable scantool that can talk to all systems on a Prius.

Here's a thread that reviews several apps and devices for smartphone. Most work on Gen3 as well as Gen2.

I kind of figured that maybe OReighlys and auto zones reader just couldn't dive that deep. They were able to pull up codes before i replaced the brake booster. There are not lights on. The car only does it if I'm having to use the brakes a lot like during stop and go traffic or waiting in line at my kids school. If i put it in park and let it sit for about 5 minutes all the lights and beeping go off and the brakes work normal again.

I think its strange that the accumulator works fine after the booster was replaced. Could this possibly be caused by the brakes not being bled using tech stream?

It seems like something might be overheating.
