On my 2006 Prius, I used it as a power source for my house with an inverter. I could leave the car on, and it would run for days. On my 2021 (also my previous 2017) it turns off after about an hour. This is not convenient if I need to use the car for the power source again. I have only needed to do this once, but it only lasted for a few hours. The power outage at Super storm Sandy lasted for days. It would be really nice to be able to disable this feature. Anyone familiar with it? Thanks, Howard (If this is an old topic, I tried to find it, but couldn't, so sorry.)
There have been threads about it before, some of which include the dance that can be used to disable the auto off. (If I remember right, it doesn't stay disabled; the dance is needed whenever you have the car on and don't want it to turn off.)
Closing the door with a mechanical key allows the machine to operate without turning off after an hour.
It's too bad there isn't a car camping section for the Gen 4 and 5 Prius and Prius Prime. The Gen 4 and 5 Prius are complicated to keep in camper mode and the Primes are ever harder, under all conditions and variations of equipment added for camping and backup power.
