Is there a way to adjust the Instrument Brightness level to daylight levels with the Exterior Lights in Parking or Driving Headlights mode? When the headlights are selected, the Max Instrument Brightness max is less than daylight max. WHY? I prefer to drive with my headlights AND Running Lights on in the daylight. I don't know if DRL is a Federally mandated mode but without running lights it causes many drivers to drive with no lights on. It's a maddening thing to watch & equally maddening to do it yourself by accident. The DRL selection a poor, hazardous byproduct of bad design (not unique to Toyota). On my GM vehicles, there is no DRL selection. The headlights are hardwired on with the transmission lever out of Park. I just leave my lights on all the time.
Thanks, but it still doesn't address the different maximum lighting levels between DRL vs Parking or Headlights. I will assume there is no provision buried in some menu to adjust or override the dimness. My Cadillac had the best system; never touched the headlight switch.
I was reading the complaints on NHTSA and two Prius owners were upset about barely being able to see the dashboard lights during the day when headlights are on. No way to increase brightness? Not even manually like I can with my 2009?
