Oil Change Interval

    One of the reasons you are NOT seeing the oil burning is likely because you are changing
    it more often. Before the oil can brake down.
    Sure is a lot easier, quicker, and less expensive then replacing the engine! (y):whistle:

    I would still do it because the stop start might be worse than a continuously running engine

    Yeah i agree. Even thought the engine runs less these cars are hard on oil. Pretty much the entire line of 2ZR engines are known for being oil burners. Change every 5k. They have the weakest piston rings combined with godly compression numbers on these engines.

    At 122k here. Any oil use is undetectable between changes as is the change of color. Aiming for every 10k or one year.

    Maybe, if you're judging appearance of the oil by the thin film on the dipstick. Here mine, new versus drained, after about 4k kilometers. Both samples are Toyota 0W20. If it's not clear, the drained oil is on the right.

    I'm not recommending that anyone stretch their oil changes, just that I do and without any apparent ill effects.
    No one will tell you to change your oil less frequently, I made that decision for myself.
