Yes, Georgina, I stand corrected....Tesla's will be effected with the tariffs. But Trump cares more about American auto workers than workers in other countries...he's right about Americans getting ripped off by the entire world...we can't even sell OUR vehicles in Japan or Europe...what's that all about?? I, also, agree Toyota and Honda are the reason GM and Ford survived in the 80's by working on quality. Anybody remember the "new quality" of the Saturns by GM? My neighbor actually, still, has a old Saturn Vue but she's been worked on more times than Madonna and probably won't be around much longer!! My daughter bought a used Saturn L sedan about 20-years ago and it was a strange car to work on, for sure. While the engine and transmission seemed pretty good, the fit and finish was terrible. I mean, huge gaps between the various panels when you closed it and, as it got near the end of her time having it, the driver's door had actually sagged probably 1/2 and inch so you really had to slam the thing (or lift up a bit on the handle) to get it to shut.
Most BEVs (including GMs) have fast DC charging. Roughly 100 miles in 30 minutes of you believe the EVangelists. I still think it shortens the life of the cells - but that's me being me. Supercharging is different, but you can never get a straight answer out of an EVangelist about how much it's going to cost, or how long it's going to take, because it's different from place to place, car to car, and also depends on what time it is, and how the Dodgers are doing this year. Gas is easy, fast, and ubiquitous - for now. PHEVs give you the best of both worlds, excepting that they're crazy expensive.
I had to change the driver door hinges on my gen 1 Prius at about 15 years for the same issue. It was an easy repair. Also eliminated a lot of groany-suspensiony sounds on uneven roads that I had not thought of as door-hinge-related. Turns out the closed door has more to do with stiffening the body than I thought.
The math for/and our usage/s still show non-PHEV Toyota Hybrids for the win. Seeing i'm +/- 1 year from retirement, the New Roadster will probably not replace my ZR1 "toy" either. ...and partisan politics have nothing to do with these decisions.
Sidebar: Wx is going to bet bumpy up your way today! Stay safe! PEOPLE generally impact their ability to pay for such products. For all of the rage and FUD, most of the economic impacts of the Hitlerian administration that I have observed have been people complaining about things that effect OTHER people. I bought gas and some groceries this AM. Gas ($2.43) was about the same as just before the emancipation. Groceries were too. Pay - same. Taxes will stay the same because the Donkeys will not be able to claw back the 2017 tax relief bill. meh.....
I learned how to move my assets based on Left or Right control long ago. I learned how to deal with lay-offs and being broke decades before. But then, I am not now, nor was I ever a .gov employee...so I learned how to live in the real world.
Should PEOPLE (obviously some 3d party who is not you or me) pay attention or care if: There is a $4,750 tax credit on a used EV There is a $7,500 tax credit on a new EV Social Security check may disappear in April because it is a "Ponzi scheme" Used car may lose value sitting on a dealer's lot New car may lose value due to softening demand FYI, there has already been a $1,000 drop in the offered price by the dealer since I first saw the listing on eBay. That might have been an eBay markup but that is also most of what a $1,300 Tesla tow kit would cost. Bob Wilson
Tesla is suffering from the loss of their major supporters and customers. Leon’s fault, there’s no denying it
The "Left" turned on Musk because he supports President Trump...period. As noted earlier...me and mine don't drive a partisan cars. Hell...I drive/own a Prius and the second fastest factory Corvette ever sold to the general public. I think for myself.
That’s exactly what I was saying, and they have that right (for now)) despite trunk saying it is illegal. It doesn’t matter what you or I buy, or why we buy it. The collective applys the most pressure, whether it’s the right to strike, or the right to boycott. Magas don’t buy electric vehicles on the whole, that’s their right, and they can start a turnaround if they want, following trunks example
The fact that I was going to order a new Tesla Roadster for $200K-$250K has/had nothing to do with how I vote...and neither did buying a Prius and RAV4 HV.
Then let's not make it about you and me...deal? The Wife and I seldom agree on anything...but we get along just fine and we're still married after coming up on 39 years.
I didn’t think we were, but yes, it’s a deal. Please forgive me if I have attacked you personally, that’s never my intention, but I often let emotion rule over reason, despite my better judgement
Emotions are alway part of Religious and Political discussions, but most of us can still disagree over a beer...so to speak. We're good.
