Can anyone identify what this piece is with the rubber grommet? It’s rattling against the exhaust pie and very annoying. It doesn’t seem to fit around the exhaust and can’t determine what it’s supposed to do.

    Thanks for any help!

That grommet holds the exhaust so it won't drop down. If the exhaust shield is rattling against something, just bend it out of the way

So the metal piece holds the the exhaust? How? The metal piece isn’t “holding” anything. It’s just attached to the grommet with seemingly no purpose, unless it’s missing a bolt or something where the holes in the metal piece are. So it just hangs there with unattached to the exhaust and and vibrates against the exhaust when driving at lower speeds. It seemingly has no purpose. There isn’t any way I see it should attach to the pipe unless it’s missing a piece.

The bracket being supported by the rubber is supposed to be welded to the pipe, to support it. You should be able to see where the welds were. An exhaust shop can probably re-weld it if the pipe isn't too far gone.

Thanks? The pipe is in good shape. I’ll check for welds on it. When I bought it, it did have some damage to the rear bumper piece. I’m guessing the exhaust was replaced because it looks very clean, not like a 14 year old car. I’ll check it out. Thank you!
