Its been more than 2 weeks since my local Toyota dealer did the fuel tank recall on my Prius, but the service recall has not been cleared yet. Two calls to the dealer over 2 weeks and they say its been done and submitted to Toyota Corporate, and theres nothing they can do. Anyone had a similar issue with a service item not clearing on the app? If so, how did you have it cleared?

Maybe if you go to the settings menu in the instrument panel, using the steering wheel controls, you can reset it there.

Called and the dealer screwed up...although they said it was submitted to Toyota Corporate, Corporate said they only had record of my regular service done in the same day. So all that to find out the dealer was lying to me. Expecting a call tomorrow from the Service Manager (let's see if it's more lies) and it's STILL on the app. Jeez agsin...that was my 5th call about this.

You all will not believe what I'm about to tell you- I just received a call from my local Toyota dealer (Mossy Toyota), where the Service Manager or Service man that I delt with on 3/1/25 was supposed to call; nope- some receptionist was calling. She told me the following: "We have to have you come in to update the software on your Prius, and it will take 7 hours for it to be completed." I reminded her that we were there on 3/1/25 and THAT service was also 7 hours, where we waited at the dealer for the car (we had been told at hour 4 that it would be 3 hours more, and by that time, a loaner car back and forth would have not been prudent). I asked the receptionist 1) why it takes 7 hours to update the software, 2) why wasn't this done on 3/1/25, and 3) why didn't the Service Manager call me back. She said they're too busy, but she will have them call me back. Now, what do you all say about that?! Other people on the forum were telling me (on another thread) that I was being ridiculous and just to wait. It will be 1 month since we had this done, and now ANOTHER 7 hours? Unbelievable!

What we're saying is that you need a new dealership. There is absolutely nothing on your car that is going to take 7hrs to fix. Especially software. What's most likely happening is that the management is overbooking the service department and they have absolutely no idea when your car is actually going to be worked on. Could be the morning, could be the afternoon. By telling you 7 hours, they get to keep it for the whole day and do the work when a tech has a spare 15 minutes.

There seem to be something like 10 Toyota dealerships in the greater San Diego area. Maybe try another one to see if you have a better experience.

They called me back again and told me that they did the recall work incorrectly the first time, so they have to do it again. Toyota Corporate didn't accept the recall work because of that and that's why it needs to be done again. They're going to give me a loaner for 4 days because they offered a hand wash and full detail on Monday, (taking the car in this Sat), and will return the loaner Monday afternoon. Long story short (lol), looking for a new dealer after this.

And it will still be a 1.5hr job at most(that's all the dealership gets paid by Toyota USA no matter how long it takes them). And if an owner makes sure the gas tank is empty before bringing it in, that knocks around 20min off the work time. Them taking 7hrs means either they can't accurately schedule service or they screwed something up(or broke something) that then needed to be fixed.

I was in and out in about 65min. I figure it took the tech 45min to do the job, and the remaining 20min was just paperwork and moving the car from place to place(my dealership has the actual shop in a separate building to where you drop the car off).

Yeah, I think I'll skip the recall work since it's not a safety recall. I don't notice anything different since July 2023.
Dealership wait times are a crap shoot and my time is valuable.

Is using the app really worth it? TBH, I've never used it

It really depends. Being able to reliably remote start your car in the winter is nice. I'll normally subscribe for at least a couple months each winter. Being able to use your phone as a key sometimes comes in handy. Maybe more so if you regularly wear clothes where a keyfob would be a problem.

Every once in awhile I find it useful to find out the odometer reading, tire pressure, or fuel level without having to go out to the car to check. Like if it's very cold outside, or if I'm about to leave on a trip the next day and need to see if I need to leave time for a fuel stop when setting my alarm. The odometer and tire pressure stay updated even without a subscription, but I think fuel level needs the subscription. Or maybe you see a general level w/o the subscription and a specific DTE with the sub.

Finally, the app is a convenient way to check service campaigns and recalls. You can also do it through the Toyota.com website, but it's not intuitive at all.

Honestly, it's truly a YMMV sort of situation.

We found a new dealership for after Saturday. The dealer we bought the car at has a huge lip in their service entrance and my car bottomed out when I took it there, so that's out unfortunately. The others (there are only 4 in my area within 30 mins) leave only 2 more, and the other one I called had no Sat hours.

Finally picked up the redone recall on monday, and lo and behold, the recall on the app finally cleared! Took only 2 days. Done.
