Is it me? In the past several months, does it seem many topics in FHOP are a better fit with FHOPolitics? My solution of ignore works well. kris
It may very well be. What isn’t radioactive these days? A report to tidelands may be the elixir you need
I can see it getting harder and harder to say X doesn't somehow implicate politics, for any value of X. In part that's a game being played by politicians, leaving no area of human activity that they won't politicize, leaving very little to be said that can't be objected to as political. Even if we conclude, like WOPR, the only winning move is not to play, that isn't a choice being offered. How to decide what discussions have to be in fhopol isn't really clear to me. If we're not careful, it'll be every topic except spark plugs (wait, those might be imported) oil changes (never mind) paint colors?
Transportation has always been a political topic in my memory. People starting politically themed threads in the house of pizza are probably just ignorant, and poor moderation is the beginning of chaos
Putting things into order makes sense if I'm working in my garden or cleaning up my room... But there's no way you're ever gonna create order out of the massive mess we're all facing right now. No amount of pancake flipping is going to save us. It will take way more than that!
I'm sorry, did you say something? Ionizing Radiation? Back when I wore a dosimeter (TLD) - we were always too busy to be thin-skinned.......
You could always start a motor oil or b-mode thread. Those are technical enough that they go full aggro without any politics needed. Probably better just to remember- even though lots of people are riled up and looking to fight, you don't have to.
Not just you. I see it too. Despite this being a helpful, informative and friendly site most of the time, there's a small but poisonous minority. Some appear nice at first, but are full of condescending insults. Others are just so mean and nasty that their every post is full of anger. Sure, we can scroll on by, but Priuschat is lesser for it.
Always remarkable the way you folks take everything you see online so seriously and especially negatively... I enjoy everyone on here and don't have anything bad to say about anyone even when they're annoying, I simply let them know. But here you are, rarely seen despite your 15K comments and 1500 likes, coming on here using terms like: "poisonous minority" and "condescending insults" and "mean and nasty" and "every post is full of anger." Those are all your words, not the words I see or experience in the PriusChat community. This group of online folks is so tame and respectful compared to all the other social media platforms I interact on. What's most enjoyable about PriusChat is how much money we save people getting their Prius diagnosed and repaired for a much lower price. Like an island of kindness in an ocean of trolls. It's amusing that you think the opposite.
I'd love to elaborate on the century long horror that continues to wipe out the people of the holy land who have always lived there and are losing everything, especially their loved ones to people who have never lived there and don't belong there. Of course not sure anyone is interested in that in a car repair forum? But I've been studying the subject with leading scholars from all over the world for 35 years and would be eager to provide common sense and solid references regarding the true beauty and love of 1.9 billion people who identify as Muslim.
I'm sorry, PriusCamper. I kinda like your posts and I wasn't referring to you in the least. You're right, this is a great community and I hope to continue to be a part of it in a positive way. It's just there's a few bad apples, as expected, whose posts are tending to drift out of the sandbox lately. That's all I was commenting on.
Try the ignore function... I got 30 people on my ignore list and it's easy to click "show ignored content" at bottom of every thread to view anything you ignored to better understand the context.
Yeah, I probably should ignore whatever bugs me. I'm not always successful. For me it's maybe 5 people....carry on, my friends.
My favorite newscaster Phillip Defranco created a T-shirt responding to that... This particular version of the t-shirt uses the word mess instead of the F-word, which I think is less effective because the F-word says so much more:
Rarely seen in the political pages, and cat video threads perhaps. Probably seen a little more often in the 'answering questions and helping people' parts of PC, though. I'm probably a little bit more of a free speech absolutists, and I do not give very many people the power to irritate me. I only have one 'seagull poster' squelched (don't flatter yourself @Hidyho....it's not you ) I respectfully disagree with the idea that pages like FHOP and FHOP_P 'take away' from a forum. The antidote for misinformation/disinformation is NOT less information......it's MORE information! YMMV....
