Just got a new to me 2015 Prius Five. Any way to turn off reverse beep sound? Dealer wants $$. Heard Dr. Prius and OBDii is the best? Will Autozone do it for free? Also, best way to get hybrid battery health?
Dr Prius has nothing to do with features of your car other than monitoring the battery Dr Prius is in a convenience app made to run your car read codes or any of that generally speaking unless it's in your owner's manual or something you will need this software called Toyota tech stream and with that software you can play with the buttons in the security system and convenient system I am pretty sure you can't turn the seat belt buzzer off easily and things like that in my '04 to '09 when I replace the speedometer because it's a thing in those models the speaker that does all the beeping is on the back of the heads up display I pull that speaker off the back of the heads up display when I reinstall the new one that's fixed and I have no beeps in any of my '04 to '09 Prius The generation 3 I haven't been able to keep running long enough to get to enjoy any of these features. The Toyota software offers you the most flexibility in making adjustments to these systems that I know of there are some work arounds online I think I don't know what they are by hard or anything like that pushing various buttons and holding your finger the right way I'm not really good at using software that's designed to do these things I can manage.
Techstream will have that function and maybe some specialty scanners. Autozone won't know how to do it. As for the HV battery health, Dr. Prius may be able to do that. But keep in mind, most of these batteries will fail after 10 years so it won't last that much longer on a 2015
I used Dr Prius to disable both reverse and seatbelt beep. You’ll need a bluetooth OBDII, I recommend this one linked below. https://a.co/d/0dmQhtU
Make sure to have $2,000 already saved up, the stock hybrid battery begins to deteriorate after 10 years. And then Mendel will step in with the other crucial cleaning
Dr Prius purportedly will turn off reverse beep, shows that function. Ditto for seatbelt warning I think. I haven’t tried either though, am against disabling either. My 2 cents: the reverse beep is there to “theoretically” deal with the shortcomings of joy-stick shifter, losing track of what gear you’re in, with possibly dangerous consequences. I can attest, it’s only partially effective… What’s the miles?
