Purchased on Friday 3/14 from Haley Toyota of Richmond VA, who offered $2500 off of MSRP via internet sales; the sales staff were well-informed and easy to work with, and they stayed late to facilitate the purchase. Recommended! Initial thoughts, as a passenger (the car is for my wife, I haven't driven it): it's reasonably quiet, comfortable, good ergos for my 5' 4" wife, and all of the controls are familiar and "make sense." The only feature that I'm disappointed in so far is the radio, as it's pretty lackluster. Of note, my wife is vegan and wanted a car that didn't have any leather interior surfaces, which limited my search options considerably (many automakers offer cloth seats, but don't deviate from leather steering wheels/shifter boots throughout the range of a model, for example). Toyota's SofTex looks and feels great IMO, and the XLE trim level offers enough upgrades from the base model without getting into leather seating. There weren't a lot of other viable options. Going forward I'll be curious to see how maintenance-friendly the car is, since I'm also the one who takes care of the household fleet.
+1. It's a Prius, and so it will just be filters, fluids, rotations, and inspections for a while. The Warranty and Maintenance Guide has all the deets. 5K Oil Changes.....
I have owned 3 prius one was softtex leather im sure its manufactured imitation leather but holds up better then the real thing. My current 2016 prius has 240,000 totally trouble free miles on it. The other 2 were gen 3’s with 200k miles before we bought another. They can last a long time
Enjoy the new car! I got 20yrs/220K miles on my Gen1 with only about $2,500 in non-scheduled maintenance before giving it to a nephew, still going strong. My wife's Gen 3 is 10 years old with 100k miles (and softex) and still going strong with no major issues. Only 1.5 years on the Gen5 so far, so jury is still out. Hopefully the 12V battery issue was just a bad batch of batteries. I have a new one. Will
Cloth more durable anyways. Front jack point is way back: Ridiculous Front Lift Point | PriusChat Even if you can get a jack under to it, there may not be enough headroom, to raise the handle sufficient to start it lifting. Low-rise ramps would likely help, say a couple of layers of 2x8 on the flat.
