I'm interested in getting the following Wheels for my 2024 Prius Prime XSE but I want to ensure that they're compatible before doing so. "Enkei Wheels 498-980-6540MBM | Enkei Wheels TY5 Pearl Black (19"x8", 40 Offset, 5x114.3 Bolt Pattern, 72.6mm Center Bore)" I'm hesitant because the Center Bore is larger than the original Wheels. And Im honestly not super informed on this topic. Would break clearance be okay? Thanks
The specs look OK, you just need hubcentric rings to adapt the larger bores on the wheels to your hubs. Something like these: https://a.co/d/jf0nDZW SM-G781V ?
I’m currently running 18x8.5 +40 offset, so you’ll be totally fine. I’m also having 0 brake clearance issues with my flat-faced 17x9 +45 Enkei RPF1s, which definitely have less brake clearance than the TY5s just by looking at them. Like xlrider said, hub rings will solve your centerbore issues, and I’ll add that you’ll probably need new lug nuts. OEM lugs are mag-seat, and my RPF1s use conical seats, so it’s pretty likely the TY5s use the same. Double check though
Also, my previous Enkei wheels had some small diameter holes for the lugnuts, so I had to use slim lugnuts, if that makes any sense. Gorilla Small Diameter lugnuts to be specific. https://a.co/d/2gptU6z SM-G781V ?
The wheel specialist i spoke to from the seller said that OEM tires are 19x6.5 and that these 19x8 Wheels will stick our passed the tire. Any opinions on that?
You will not be able to fit the factory 195 tires on 8” wide rims without a major tire stretch, smallest to go would be 215 and thats pushing it. With my 18x8.5 +40 tesla wheels, the rims are basically flush, and a 235/45 tire has *just* enough clearance not to touch the fender. You can see pictures of the fitment in my thread here: Tesla Model 3 Wheel Swap | PriusChat 19x8 +40 is narrower, so the rim will definitely fit. However, at +40 offset I would not go any wider than a 235 tire because you’ll risk rubbing against the fender when the suspension is compressed. Using this tool, you can experiment with different tire sizes and see what would be best for you: Tire Size Calculator The main thing to consider is overall diameter, you’ll want it to be as close to the OEM tires as possible to keep your speedometer accurate. In your position, i would personally go with a 225/45/r19 tire, because it will get the closest to the 195/50/r19 diameter without stretching to fit the 8” rims.
You never said anything about using the stock tires on the new rims. Just if the new rims would fit. SM-G781V ?
