Is Gen 5 Prius really better-looking than Gen 4 Prius Prime?

Looks are very subjective, but MANY MANY MANY things are better looking than the G4s are.
    Roseanne Barr.
    A Southwest Airlines boarding.
The last three or four US Presidential elections.

Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the BONE!

I like the G5s but I've aged out of them.
It's really great that Toyota finally made a car that is somewhat fun to drive, gets roughly 50 miles per gallon in the real world, and is something that kids would not be ashamed for their friends to see them in.
These all were NOT "Prius things' not that long ago.....

I would also add that while $35,000 isn't exactly grad school budget friendly, Priuses have always been too expensive for a small hatchback.
If you take the $25,000 that most people were over-spending in 2010 to get into a Prius and convert it to '2025 dollars' you'd get.......about $35000 - but then you used to be able to feet a whole carload of people at Taco Bell for $5.......'back in the day.'

    Enjoy the G5!

My Prius was the best purchase I ever made. For the time when I had no income, I could run on free electricity and never buy gasoline.

since we are making comparisons here....every time i look at gen5 I definitely can see similarities with unnatural looks of the Living Ken Doll - Rodrigo Alves and gen5. Both are artificially exaggerated, I suppose.

Sadly, I've aged out of the G5.
Guys my age might be able to rock something like a Jeep or an imported ragtop without the kids straining their eye-roll muscles too obviously, but the new G5s are obviously targeting a MUCH different demographic.
    ...and I'm glad for it!

They even get good ink from from automobile enthusiast magazines that don't have 'green' or 'electric' in their titles.

I think it's gorgeous. I bumped my head getting in the first time, but not the second. I don't even care if it has less visibility and room - my kids have left home, and I'm not planning to drive across the country again anytime soon. (Cycle, maybe...)

Compared to my venerable 2004, which I have been driving since new, this Prius looks fresh out of an Italian salon, and has double the horsepower. Sold.

"..this Prius looks fresh out of an Italian salon..." or out of a plastic surgeon office. Practicality/visibility/ergonomics/trunk space of Gen5 can not even come close to Gen4. As for acceleration, although Gen5 is quicker of the line, from 100km/hr to 120 seems to be faster in gen4 at least this is how i felt, gen4 felt more immediate than the gen5. But Gen5 is an ok car with too many compromises for the people who prefer "looks" (looks are subjective) over substance.

Keeping strictly to the title of this thread...the GEN 5 looks better than the GEN 4. In fact I think it's the best looking Prius made to date.

I think the looks have naturally improved with each generation. So, in terms of looks:

    (Gen 6) > Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 3 > Gen 2 > Gen 1

I looked at my Gen 4 parked behind a Gen 2 today at the dealer appointment line. My Gen 4 clearly looked better and more modern than the Gen 2. So, the inequality above seems to be a safe conjecture.

I've had dozens of people express interest in my Gen 5 and complimented its looks.
I don't recall much of a buzz over the Gen 4.

It's not a coincidence I skipped Gen 4. I wasn't sure what it was supposed to be.

Personally, I think the Gen 4 looks like someone tried to jazz up the looks of the ol' Prius, and didn't do such a good job.

    The ratings are still:

    1. Gen5 (by a light year)
    2. Gen3
    3. Gen2
    4. Gen4
    5. Gen1

In the late 1990s, I first saw the 1st-generation Prius cruising down our street, driven by my neighbor David Hermance+, who worked as a Toyota Engineer & often referred to as the "American father of the Prius." At that time, the car hadn't yet been marketed in the U.S., and David was the only one with it. I remember thinking it was a funny-looking car and knowing nothing about the groundbreaking technology inside it. Over the years, though, my perspective shifted—I came to truly appreciate the 1st Gen Prius. After owning a couple of Gen 2 and Gen 3 models, I found myself wishing I had experienced the uniqueness of that pioneering Prius.

In my opinion, the Gen 4's (and yes, I had one (2017 Prius 2) ) all look like something out of the old cartoon "The Jetsons". I absolutely LOVE my Gen5 and hope they keep the current style. I DID love my 2017 BEFORE the Gen 5 makeover.
