Pre and post Musk, anyone using it? If so, what is useful about it? I have tried Twitter/X both before and after Musk. The software was buggy but too much useless noise. After Musk's team cleaned up the software, the bugs are gone but still too much useless noise. For example, I spend the first part of each session blocking the noise and though there is 'nice to hear' stuff that remains, it is not a dialog but "YOU MUST BELIEVE THIS SH*T!" I do use Facebook since it is a voluntary group of family and actual people I know. But Twitter/X is just a cacophony of yelling strangers. Bob Wilson
In the beginning, I thought it was a useful tool to allow well-known people to express their opinions in an unfiltered way, and possibly, on a timely basis, correct the record for quotes of theirs taken out of context. Of course, since there were no restrictions on who could use the tool, it was quickly taken over by those who thought their opinions were more important than they really are. I never had any illusion that my opinions were valuable to anyone other than a small circle of acquaintances, so was never tempted to add my voice to the cacophony.
Polls are for dancers - and I don't. Besides....there IS NO "D: None of the above." As with political polls the categories are meant to artificially group individuals - which is like herding cats. You MAY be able to put them all in a box, but they're NOT going be part of a 'group.' YOU tell ME.... Saying that I got an account but only used it one or twice might 'scientifically' place me into box "B" but this would invite a false presumption of my feelings about the Tweets, Xs, or Musk. -just like REAL polls and "scientific studies...." I got a Tweeter handle a while back as a 'land grab' but I never used it much and I suppose that I've been D.O.G.E.'d since Twitter became 'formerly known as.' I've never been close to having whatever a 'blue check' is supposed to be, and the idea of paying for one is probably like having a lover's name tatted on your neck. Expensive, painful, and something that one might regret in the fullness of time. Or when they sober up. I live in a 'golf cart' neighborhood that used to be semi-gated and used to have HOA Nazis. City annexation, school redistricting and Father Time has turned it into a more middle-class joint that is now supporting their second crop of middle school students with a leavening of the olds. Some kind of FB 'group grope' thing got started to incite hate, irritate fellow neighbors, and spread gossip - probably much like the original HOA Nazis used to do only without the monthly fees. I do have a FB page out there somewhere, but only because at the time NOT having one would have made me more statistically interesting.
Agreed, and I have been told that before. It seems different to me though, than x, fb, ig, Ty and etc
e all the social medias... They're always changing and each one has something good to offer. Twitter, started to use it in 2006, is a good place to connect with sports fans and people out of touch with political reality. It's also, under Musk, become even more toxic than Reddit, which I never thought possible. I did step away from Twitter the first year after Musk bought it, but came back to witness the spectacle of it all. Suprisingly, to this day, most government leaders around the world still use Twitter as their primary social media tool... I do have Elon blocked on my account but I kind of hope he eventually bypasses that block and sees all my posts pointing out what a wretched person he is. For example, this is my Profile photo of a float from a recent parade in Germany : And this is my most recent Banner at the top of my profile: And this is what my profile looked like with my previous Banner:
