I bought the 2025 SE/LE (Canada) which is arriving the end of the month and was interested in upgrading the 17 inch rims and using the stock rims with winter tires. Has anyone else done this? Not a fan of the wheel covers but figure they will be fine for use in the winter. Not sure if moving up to 19 inch rims makes sense or if that comes with possible issues? Would love to see pictures of upgraded rims that ppl have bought on here as well as any advice you may have as I want to make sure I get the right size for the car.
Grass is always greener. Guess you missed all the fun drama with the OEM 19s blowing out and then people couldn't find appropriate tire sizes. If you want fitment info use Alloy Wheel and Tyre Fitment Calculator. Offset, Tyre Stretch and Speedo Error | Will They Fit and use google to get oem measurements for 17 and 19. Then you can compare that to whatever 19 you plan on buying. Personally I'd just stick with 17" and cross climate 2's. Last thing I'd want is to use 19s for winter tires.
I've had absolutely zero problems with my stock size Michelin X-Ice Snow tires for the 19" wheels. We had about a foot of snow here a few weeks ago, and I couldn't lose control even when I tried(empty parking lot at night). I ran Nokian WRG3/4 on my previous Prius(close competitor to the CC2), and these are noticeably better(though it's hard to separate out what is tire what is AWD and what is VSC - which my 2010 didn't have).
Yes I am new to the Prius club so I had not heard about this issue. I have also seen some ppl going from 19's to 17's on a couple threads. I will most likely stick with 17's as I want to keep the process simple. My main objective is to find a 17 inch rim to use with the factory all season tires that has a better look than the stock wheel cover look. Lastly I plan to put winter tires on the stock rims. Not sure if anyone else has done this.
No I don't think I plan to go up in size for a number of reasons. Will stick with 17's for winter and summer to avoid any possible issues. My main objective is to find stylish 17's to put the factory tires on then use the factory rims for winter tires.
I think 17's (aero covers) only suit a black car to be honest. The arches are big and the tyres look like donuts. The alloys underneath aren't nice but regardless, the car is suited to 19" wheels in my opinion.
Yes. That's why I mentioned it's hard to separate out the different factors comparing my old 2010 FWD with Nokian WRG3/4 tires and no advanced VSC to my current 2023 AWD with Michelin X-Ice Snow tires and full VSC. I suspect the overall improvement comes from real winter tires and the VSC, but I think the AWD is the reason I couldn't get the rear end to kick out no matter what I did. But the only way to know for certain would be to have identical FWD and AWD versions side by side on the same tires.
Yes those look very nice, I think I have seen some pictures with them on a prius and they are a great look. Definitely a contender for me while shopping for new summer rims. Hopefully they are available in Ontario. My problem with the stock wheel covers is they make the car look more like a tesla as they have similar wheel covers on some teslas. I have heard some prius owners complain about ppl thinking they are driving a tesla.

Thanks for the offer but I am only looking for winter tires that will fit on my stock rims. Not looking for winter rims at the moment, only upgraded summer rims.
