Interior and Door Carpet/Trim Removal for Sound Deadening

Following.... been thinking about doing wheel wells myself. Did the underside of hood already.

I think the majority of the road noise is from the wheel arches. When it's raining here (which is pretty often) it's definitely loud in the arches.
I guess the job wouldn't take too long. Wheel off, remove liner, apply sound deadening and refit.

 

Get the repair manual from scotched(Complete Gen 5 (2023+) Repair Manual Available | PriusChat). That will have all the instructions for disassembly and reassembly. Just know that disassembly is way harder than reassembly. These modern cars are designed to be put together quickly and easily on an assembly line. They don't spend much effort on making them easy to take apart later.

You're a newish user, so you probably can't message him directly yet. Other new users have left posts in the thread asking scotched to contact them instead. I assume it worked because they didn't ask again. Or you could just post in other threads for awhile until your account is given full access. I suspect it's automatic after a period of time and/or a certain post count.

Other general tips are to have a very good super glue standing by(I like the Loctite Super Glue Plastics Bonding System), and to also budget on replacing a couple odds and ends that break and can't be fixed. Also prepare to replace a few plastic fasteners if the old ones get mangled getting them out. A few bucks worth of fasteners is worth having no creaks or rattles when you're done.

 

Good, I think? I did it as soon as I got the car so I don't have any 'before' experience. My goal was to dampen CVT drone when stepping on the gas. It takes at most 20 minutes to do the hood, so a bit of a no brainer.

In my experience over multiple vehicles, sound deadening is a 5%-10% game (improvement is always minor, refining around the edges) and works in concert with various sections of car.
