A Company in Birmingham charging £350 to deliver a recon hybrid battery at £1000 to South Glasgow, mine would get taken away is it the going rate for that service.

I forgot this is a US based site, I will need to hope some UK folk read it.

Thats a $450 fee to install a reconditioned battery for $1,200. What kind of warranty do they offer 3 years?
Here in the states There is a company who does free installation but the battery is $1,600.00 and comes with a 3 year warrenty. That is about 1,240 GBP for you... so close to your 1,400 GBP quote

Beware fake battery scams. Many fake lithium cells are packed with gypsum or even rice flour.

How would you tell if it is fake.

Either weigh it, or do a capacity test. Fake batteries are usually much lighter than the authentic ones.

Some fakes have a small battery inside, packed in filler material. Most of them just have a lot less of the ingredients, loosely rolled up inside the container.

Ok but lithium is lighter so how would you know if that was fake.

they should show you the battery before they install it. Your Oem battery is quite heavy at 80 lbs. If they use NiMh cells like OEM it will be similar in weight. It is a struggle for 1 person. Easier with 2. Make sure you get names of the installers and if possible take pictures of them or even video. If you are really worried ask your local police force to stop by during the install if they can, or a friend or neighbor.

    Is there a warranty?

if it breaks and they won’t respond, is there a place of business you can go to?

Ask your local Toyotas for a price, supplied and fitted.

Buy a facelift gen 2 T Spirit with leather instead, and break your current Prius for parts, or keep it to use as a parts car for your new Prius. Or, bite the bullet and get the battery from Toyota, if you’re happy with your current car and there are no other major issues (rust, engine etc.). Try a few other Toyotas too. You could potentially save money by travelling to another Toyota slightly further afield.

If the company has been around for a while it does not sound like an unreasonable price - ALTHOUGH I do not know what consumer protections are available in the UK.

That is the model this is ie I have leather, cruise, sat nag etc.
