Please.....this is for all 2024 LE owners......I opened the engine hood today of my new, 3 day old LE and found no top plastic engine cover.......is this normal? ......Thanks
There is no engine cover on any gen5 Prius. There actually isn't even room for one since the engine sits underneath the front cowl more than in most cars. I tried getting around the lack of a cover by buying one for a Lexus UX 200(which has the same engine), but I ended up with a paperweight as it won't fit. The mounting points match because both engines use identical valve covers, but there are obstructions with the heat shields(and other things) over the engine.
Thank You, so much! ......when I go to an online Toyota dealer parts list, this is what I find, when I type in "2024 Prius LE".......cart before the horse.......Thanks Again
I'm not sure what you're looking at, but there's no engine cover in that image. The black part above the oil dipstick is part of the valve cover. It also doesn't have a Toyota logo on it. This is what the same engine would look like with an engine cover on it:
The lack of plastic cover is refreshing; they are purely cosmetic. I keep our 3rd gen's in place, because it came with it, don't want to lose it in the garage somewhere, and I suppose it does keep the valve cover cleaner. But this trend to cover everything in plastic is silly.
