You can bet musk hates paying the employers 6.5% half or whatever number to social security for his employees. It’s like paying people more, how inefficient. No wonder he wants to end social security and calls it a scheme.

 

So now that the 47 dumpster fire is raging, may we Americans ask why is musk involved in any of this? State the reasons.

A very recent attempt to sign in to my soc. sec. account required I take pics of the front and back of my enhanced DL along with my face pic. That, along with 2-factor authentication, got me in. It's meant to minimize fraudulant attempts to sign in to accounts.

 

i agree with the dumpster fire but the only other alternative we had would have been definitely worse. IMO BOTH parties need to go away!

 

did you try and do your best after the capitol break in, or shrug like other maga?

 

i tried to log in with my old user name and password, and it said i had to update my password.
i updated my password and it said i had to switch to a new more secure login option.
i selected login.gov and set everything up, and received an email saying i was all set.
when i try to login to ss, it says my login.gov is not linked to my ss account.
i can't figure out how to do that, so now i've been on hold with ss for over an hour.

 

There are still people that don't have a smart phone, or even have home internet access. For them, the admin is getting rid of service by phone, and is closing SSA offices.

How?

 

I did my changes late at night. Maybe the rush to change login during the day is slowing things down.

SS already had security, probably more than your bank accounts. It doesn’t take a dumpster fire to make changes as needed, if they are really needed. Saying the word fraud is pretty easy. Became a catch all word for changing things for other reasons.

A lot of fraud and scams target seniors and where do you find more seniors than social security accounts?

 

They target seniors directly to trick them into giving away bank or credit card access. They don't go for SS accounts.

 

As a senior, I have gotten in the last 6 hours:

6 calls from a semi-automated phone-number spoofing sales pitch landed in a foreign country group claiming to have something to do with my medicare.

2 Calls from similar outfits selling burial insurance.

And this goes on day after day.

 

i finally got through. they had to reset my account, have me start over, then send me a verbal access code to my landline. it was either that, or they would snail mail the code 15-20 days, but i need it before 4/15.
so i did the verbal code, but for some reason, the phone didn't ring, and a partial vm was left without the code.
now i have to start the process all over again, but i won't have my tax form on time.
maybe i'll see if i can get an appt at a local office
