    Hi all,
I was inspecting the insides whilst I have the EGR out. I noticed the fuel line into the injectors is touching against the exhaust pipe that goes from engine to EGR cooler.

there is heat shield but not around the area circled in purple, I felt it and on the underside there seems to be a little split or indentation in the hose, I have not had any fuel leakage problems but is this a concern? Should wrapping affected pipe and line in some electrical heat tape work? It’s what I have atm.

Should I replace this fuel line? Is this a DIY job?

Hope this holds up well, is this dangerous to do?

I don't know I have that same pipe on two generation 3s that are here blown up so rattling and shaking and jumping around all over the place in the engine bay didn't do anything to the hose split stretch or break it so I'm assuming it's okay Can I replace it absolutely Will I probably not as the cars don't run but your case may be different are you sure you're feeling a split. It is a preformed curved hose so you'll probably buy ing the like same from the dealer.

Hi tombukt, I’ve watched videos from a head gasket replacement and they removed the fuel line, they don’t seem to have any shielding at all by default, mine does but how unfortunate it stops right as it touches the exhaust pipe.

I’ve put on some electrical heat resistance tape, not sure how well it’ll hold up, but this is just so odd though.

Are you positive that fuel hose is original?

It's been too long since I was in there for me to clearly picture mine, but that one looks the way things look when somebody takes out an original rubber hose that was bent in a specific shape by the factory, and puts in some generic hose off a spool and loops it around whatever way seems to fit in the space....

Honestly can’t tell, but it seems to bend at the correct shape, so dont think its any generic tube, wrapped a ton of heat resistance tape will keep an eye on it.
