    Hello to all....

I want to upgrade my back up camera. The stock is just not good. Who has replaced their own? Source for the upgrade? Was it plug an play?

Thanks for your input and wisdom!

One thing I found was how much better my rear view camera was after I replaced the MFD screen. It was 10000x better, so I would definitely make sure your screen doesn't have the oval 'burn' discoloration in the center before anything else, unless you're looking to replace everything (if that's even an option). Are you looking for a better rearview camera or an actual "back-up" camera type system with the guide lines?

I am looking for a better resolution. If I am in the sun or any type of glare or bright lights my view is terrible.

My middle screen looks fine. No hint of an oval burn at all.

Was the MFD brightness control built into the menu used or not. When reversing?

I do not know. I have not done a deep dive on settings. But I will.

If you don't have the MFD part number that ends in 30 the last digits then you may not have what you want I would get that sorted out first before I run to get different cameras different cameras may not work with your multifunction center display and you may have to change the whole system meaning you would buy a stereo or dedicated backup system and so on I don't know the specs of the backup camera but they shouldn't be too hard to get whatever the specs are that are needed they're I don't think they're anything super special but whether they'll play nice with your display is possibly questionable. I think there's a whole section here where people have played with the camera I don't remember all the outcomes should be easy to check in a search there's been many discussions about it lot of fancy stereos come with backup camera or some kind of camera where you put the camera I guess it doesn't matter they call it back up camera so I don't know five with a JVC stereo that had navigation and camera and everything built right in it came with the stereo in the box don't have it sitting here right on the table I even has a remote control I've never used it so the factory MFD with the 30 designation cleared my business right up It's almost like HD or closest thing to it I guess

Thanks for the input Tom. Can you let me know for sure which JVC system you have and referenced?
    I would greatly appreciate it.

I have time so I will definitely do more research before pulling the trigger on a purchase.

In reverse mode, press the button on the right of the display. The setup menu appears. Brightness, contrast, color rendering. You can also additionally turn on the side lights on the steering column switch and adjust the camera image to night mode.

If you like you could have the whole stereo I never intend to install it or do anything with it It came out of my '05 which is still on the property and it's sitting on the front seat rolled up with the windows closed waiting for a new home because it won't be here I'll get you a model number and a few minutes The stereo's reasonably clean no scratches on the screen has the trim piece that goes around it to make it fit nice with the Toyota dash plastics and all of it like I say it's just sitting here at the time it was made or whatever it was fully loaded It does not have Android or Apple Play it is before that but it pretty much has everything else and auxiliary inputs and the back panel looks like the rear of a nakamichi amplifier practically.

Thanks so much for your support and advice. I apologize I haven't been online. I have been trying to catch up on house chores. I am going to look into my screen and camera settings today.
