    Hi

Just presume i might know answer for my question but I'll ask it anyway, my Prius gen 4 been attempted to break in 2nd time within month, those imbeciles are so ...anyway is there chance to add proximity sensor to factory alarm? Have here as well standalone alarm with proximity sensor but didnt use it as yet so not sure about result. Know that factory alarms usually are not the greatest if comes to upgrades so presume will end up with standalone and factory at same time which complicates everyday life a bit.

    Thanks

What physical principles will your proximity sensor work on?

Detter before my window will be broken again, there is no logic when they running away after alarm went off so they can f off before cracking small quater, small signalling should give they idea what is next.

If the alarm is triggered by passers-by on the street? The 12V battery will quickly lose capacity.

Yes but draining of those alarms are very low, sensor itself takes same amout as led light or less

That's not the issue, it's the power the horn draws and the neighbors getting mad at that car that keeps alarming. I wouldn't be surprised if more vandalism takes place. IMHO... There is something called alarm fatigue, where no one will pay attention - because it's an ongoing issue.

    YMMV

I remember one incident when there was a strong thunderstorm with frequent sounds of thunder. The alarms installed on cars in the neighborhood howled as if the apocalypse had begun, a bang, a howl in different tones, a bang and again a howl.

I saw a video on YouTube. It was guys with glitter bombs. They discovered the small corner window was Bing broken in back to open door and pull back seat to check trunk area for goods. The said people in places like San Francisco started leaving the trunk hatch open for anyone to see they do not contain anything.
I was walking to work from my car and saw this suv with their hatch open before I saw that video and thought wth and closed their hatch. Lol. So there's that.

That's wisdom of the crowd and social media for ya.......:p:Do_O:LOL::ROFLMAO::sleep: Were they smart enough to turn-off all lights so the car wouldn't be dead when they wanted to start it.
Decades ago, when car stereos was being stolen from cars, kinda like the CAT thief epidemic - people would put cardboard signs on their dash that stated "No radio".....

Back in the 1980s when those proximity alarms were getting popular (and had voices, too!), I was witness to an interesting scene.

On my way to a local restaurant for a bite to eat, I walked past a car that told me I was standing too close. So I thought that was neat, and walked up to it again, and it told me I was standing too close and to step back. Neat.

So I went into the restaurant and they seated me near the front window, and for an hour or so I watched nearly every passer-by on the sidewalk do a double-take and walk back up to the car once or twice or three times to get it to tell them they were too close.

The owner finally came hurrying out of the restaurant to plead with people please not to run his battery down.

It was a few years later that someone who lived in my apartment building got a fancy (for then) car with a remote fob and an alarm system that would say in a loud voice "SYSTEM ARMED" and "SYSTEM DISARMED" as he pressed the buttons on the fob.

Man, he really liked that alarm in his car. He would come home, sometimes, 1 or 2 in the morning, and walk the whole way from where he parked on the street to the building entrance, pushing the buttons on his fob. "SYSTEM ARMED" "SYSTEM DISARMED" "SYSTEM ARMED" "SYSTEM DISARMED" "SYSTEM ARMED" "SYSTEM DISARMED" "SYSTEM ARMED".

I left for work one morning and noticed in passing that not one piece of glass on his car remained intact. Every last window, mirror, and headlight had been comprehensively smashed.

The car was absent from the street for some days. When next seen, it had windows and lights again, but he didn't play with the alarm like that anymore.
