I replaced the abs actuator and accumulator on my prius v. I followed the steps with my topscan scanner with this video. But I still have a soft pedal. When I bleed the front brakes the brake fluid doesn't come out as strong as the rears. Anything else to check? Thanks
Maybe the two components on the firewall ok, but still some air in the lines? Try another "Brake Fluid Replacement Without Techstream"? There's a link in my signature*, my workflow, @NutzAboutBolts video linked, and reference excerpts from Repair Manual. * On a phone turn it landscape to see signatures.
I tried it a few more times with the topscan scanner. It said Air Bleeding has Failed. Please check vehicle condition and try again. If problem persists please refer to repair manual. All the components are new from Toyota. No leaks. Thanks
You can manually bleed the brakes, you don't have to use a professional tool to do it. After you bleed, you need to do a linear valve calibration. That's really all you need to do
I purchased the cable for techstream and I will try a Bleed with that program. After watching this video it says to release the parking brake before the linear offset is calibrated. I never did that. I bet that is why it kept failing. Hopefully it works with techstream today. Thanks.
Many times the linear offset will fail if your 12v battery is not charged up. Since you're doing it with the engine off, the 12v battery has to provide enough power for the system to do the entire calibration
Yes, the first time I did it was without a charger. My battery was toast after not using the car for a few months. I have installed a fresh 12v battery with a charger on it now. Trying it today. Thanks
During the linear solenoid offset learning, the car tries a sequence of different control values for the valve and observes the brake pressure response. Having the parking brake applied keeps the rear calipers applied mechanically so the pressure responses would be wrong, and the learning procedure doesn't proceed in that condition. If I remember right, if you are using the non-Techstream procedures, Toyota used the same jumper-wire actions to select one of two different calibration procedures depending on the parking brake state. You get the linear solenoid learning if the brake is off, and some other calibration of some other thing if the brake is on.
