2010 over fueling cylinder 1

    I replaced the headgasket on a 2010 prius ( Not my first one ) I've replaced many.
    The car will crank and run smoothly for a few seconds then it death rattles with a heavy smell of fuel before popping a P3190 and a P0A0F
    Timing is correct as it's smooth no missfire at first, intake and EGR has been cleaned throughly.
    But after removing cylinder 1 plug it's saturated with fuel and the cylinders wet.
    I checked the OHMS on the injector it registers 12~
    Plugs are all new
    Switched the coil packs as well same final result with over fueling and I don't want to wash the cylinder wall or create a detonation scenario as I've seen people blow the pistons through the bottom of the blocks ignoring headgasket failure with missfires.
    My question is, can it still be injector failure, or am I missing something?
    Any ideas would be appreciated

    Maybe you left it out of your description or I missed it, but what checking of that injector have you done?

    I checked the resistance on the injector and the voltage to the injector plug

    Ah, yes it's clearer now, thanks for the edit.

    Yeah, a bad resistance reading on the injector coil would tell you the injector coil was bad. But a good resistance reading only tells you the electrical coil isn't bad. The injector mechanically could be totally kaput.

    The way to check that is to take it out and attach a pressurized fuel line and check how it injects fuel.

    You're checking both that it injects the right volume of fuel when turned on for a given amount of time:

    A no start on a Prius after a repair can easily mean a disconnected vacuum, evap or pcv line. More likely than an injector suddenly failing.

    Did you check that the plugs are working? Did you switch the plugs also?

    A dripping injector could cause similar but once the vehicle's running and what have you that should clear up immediately and then once it shut off which I guess in the Prius can be quite a bit so while you're going down the road in the engines off it can still be dripping and that wouldn't be too good. What a bunch of the injectors I've tried cleaned ones fake ones and all that seem to run really rich and if I look at the pintle end or the end wwer the injection goes on The little injection holes or slots are different on all the aftermarkets and whatnot I haven't fired them out of the vehicle so I can watch them but when I flip them over the factory and the aftermarkets look very different in the aftermarkets are always flooding the car leaving my O2 sensor downstream with black suit on it which it's never had before though two sensor before is always pretty much look like a spark plug as far as the colors of the markings on it.

    There isn't a no start condition it fires right up then it will over fuel cylinder one and give the loss of power code after it dies out
    All lines and hoses are connected as well as all electrical connections
    Cylinder one is the only one showing missfire on TIS

    I've switched all coils and plugs it always results the same way
    Only thing I haven't swapped is injectors and that's next

    The injector has prostatitis, the doctor would say.

    But it sounds like a no start condition? The hybrid motor spins the engine so fast to start it that people think the engine has started, but it hasn't.

    Main thing to keep in mind is you're hybrid battery is going to need to be charge up with an external charger if you spin the engine too many times with it.

    The engine is starting and runs for at least 3min before popping the aforementioned codes
    I'm watching cylinder one on TIS start under normal conditions before it starts misfiring and dying out
    The hybrid battery is still getting a short regenerated charge as well as the 12v

    It's the injector hung open on cylinder one
    With the injector unplugged and the car turned to ready mode with the plug and coil pack removed on cylinder one it dumps fuel instantly as soon as it gets pressure from the fuel pump
    If the cars running with the injector plugged up using the mechanic stethoscope there is no pulsating tic
    It does test withing specs for the correct OHM reading but shouldn't be dumping fuel if it's pulsing while connected

    Yeah, unless the electromagnet coil in it has burned or shorted or something, an injector's ohm reading will always be in spec. Doesn't tell you squat about whether the valve opens and closes.

    Thanks for clarifying... Do the symptoms stay consistent on a cold engine versus when it's warmer after it's been started briefly a few times?

    The problem resolved after i replaced the injector it was the injector being hung open, but now there's a new issue I'll post below.

    New issue****
    After replacing the injector the issue has resolved but now a new one has arise that wasn't there before.
    Recap*** replaced head gasket and injector 1 due to failure car runs smoothly with no codes or missfire
    Now there's an engine tick at low rpm that increases with throttle
    I removed the valve cover and rechecked the timing along with the manifold and egr gaskets.
    Timing is correct and no exhaust leaks
    While turning the motor over with Plugs removed and valve cover off the chain is taunt then it'll drop limp then back to taunt
    Bad timing chain tensioner?

    Check the lifters. There are little "caps" that go down before installing the camshaft.
    That go on top of the valve. It is possible that one of those came off or is misaligned.

    I'll look into that but honestly the thought of draining everything and removing the cover and cam train is a little disheartening to do for that small of an issue

    You don't have to drain anything.
    You just have to remove the valve cover. Coils I think. Not too difficult.
    Look where the rocker arm rests on the valve top.
